The new SUC President III of the Catanduanes State University (CatSU), Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza, met the University’s student leaders in his Office, July 1, 2021. Federated College Student Council (FCSC) President and Student Regent, Hon.Renz Mickenly T.Tanael, led the students in a conference with the new President. He was joined by fellow FCSC officers, Marielle E. Noquiao (Vice-President), Din Cahrey Del Rosario (CASSBO President), Anthonette J. Tesorero (CAF SBO President), Criselle Cu (CBA SBO Legislator), Angelo Piolo M. Laynes (CICT SBO President), Marvin M. Antonio (CESO President), Janno C. Antonio (ESBO President), Hannah Eden Santos (CHS SBO President), Adrian Rigo Vargas (CAS SBO Legislator), MenchieJamero(CatSU Panganiban Campus Representative), and their Adviser, newly appointed Director of the Student Support Services, Mr. John Cyrus B. Francis.
The activity was one of the first initiatives of the new President wherein he threshed out the students’ problems, issues, needs and concerns that should be addressed under his administration. It was a consultative meeting with student leaders where Dr. Azanza also laid down his programs for students while advocating in his leadership the need for Shared Governance and Transparency. He said that the students shall be provided with a desk within the Office of the President so that they would have full access to information about the University. He said that a dedicated staff would be detailed in the office to serve their official concerns and other student-related issues, documents, queries, etc.
“The
Office of the President is not something that should be up there but should be
down here with you always willing to serve your needs, and always willing to
attend to whatever challenge you may be facing, and this is going to be true to
your academic concerns”, Dr. Azanza said.
The
President emphasized the importance of transparency, to not hide meetings from
the students, most importantly the stakeholders, as they are the reason for the
University’s existence. “One hallmark of my administration is that every
centavo will be spent effectively and efficiently for students’ learning and
education”, he added.
During the meeting, the student leaders were also introduced to the newly designated top officials of the University led by Dr. Lily P. Custodio, Vice-President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Edna R. Iñigo, Vice-President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dr. Ramon Felipe A. Sarmiento, Vice-President for Research, Extension and Production Affairs. #CVecilles
