Among the responsibilities of the Catanduanes State University (CatSU)
is to lead Catandunganons not just in the education sector but also in
promoting all the major and various industry sectors in the province of
Catanduanes. The CatSU President, Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza, in his FB post,
shared the Universityโs role in the various initiatives of these sectors, one
of which as he mentioned is for CatSU to actively assume its role as Learning
Resource Institution (LRI) in supporting the efficient operation and success of
the islandโs industry boards.
CatSU as the island provinceโs premier institution of higher learning,
supports the Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority (TESDA) initiative in the creation of industry boards. As a
matter of fact, as stated in Dr. Azanzaโs post, โCatanduanes has been
considered to be among the first to have formed the Tourism Industry Board.โ He
likewise added that the island has already established the Construction Sector
Industry Board while the Agricultural Sector Industry Board is also well on its
way to being organized.
CatSU President, Dr. Azanza recently attended the meeting of the
Construction Industry Board spearheaded by former Virac Mayor Sammy V. Laynes.
He said that, โthe main objective is to strengthen this sector and encourage
active involvement of the private sector in the Construction Industry to take
the lead role in job creation as well as in hiring the TESDA trained
graduates."
Dr. Azanza highlighted the importance of job and
skills matching. โGraduates need to land jobs otherwise we will simply be
producing a large army of unemployed,โ he added.
This collaboration between the CatSU and the various industries with
diverse backgrounds will help augment the employment sector by industry,
generating more job opportunities in the province. "If everyone will help
in promoting every key industry in the Island, our fellow Catandunganons will
be assured of jobs and businesses will be able to flourish,โ Dr. Azanza said.
In hope to build a strong relationship with the
various sectors around the province with the common goal of securing better
lives for all Catandunganons, CatSU continues to strengthen its collaboration
and partnership with major industries by actively participating in all their
endeavors. #GZafe
