To continuously maintain excellent education services in the Catanduanes State University, and at par with the best universities in the Philippines, the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) conducted its online 4th survey re-visit to eight CatSU academic programs via Zoom on February 21-25, 2022.
Academic programs accredited include Master of Public Administration, Master of Arts in Educational Management, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Bachelor of Science in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology.
During the opening meeting, CatSU President, Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza gave the welcome remarks while the Introduction of the Key Officials was given by the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Maria Edna R. Iñigo.
A closing meeting on February 24th capped the AACCUP online accreditation participated by the administrative officials, faculty, non-teaching staff, and the colleges under accreditation- Graduate School, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health Sciences and College of Industrial Technology. The program began with the overall impression of the accreditation process given by Dr. Jaime M. Forbes and Dr. Darwin U. Ong, Overall Team Coordinators of the two clusters; while the Closing Remarks was given by Dr. Lily P. Custodio, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Virtual awarding of certificates of commendation were likewise held during the said program to show CatSU’s appreciation to the AACCUP accreditation teams. While on Friday, February 25 was allotted for the AACCUP accreditors final report preparation.
The AACCUP accreditors of diverse professional backgrounds were: Cluster 1- Dr. Jaime M. Forbes- BPSU, Dr. Jocelyn T. Salviejo- IfSU, Dr. Roniie R. Parica-URS, Dr. Aristeo C. Salapa- USEP, Dr. Eligio B. Sacayanan-DMMSU, Dr. Elizabeth H. Alonzo-ISU, Dr. Liza L. Quimson- PangSU, Dr. Fe S. Soriano- PangSU; Cluster 2- Dr. Darwin U. Ong- NEUST, Dr. Liza M. Tamargo- IfSU, Dr. Rosale C. Leal- ISU, Dr. Jenny Beb F. Ebo- CavSU, Dr. Evelyn D. Taban- NVSU, Dr. Sarah S. Taupan- WMSU, Prof. Claudine Cecilia H. Almacher- UNP, Dr. Manuel A. Sanchez, Jr.- ISATU and Dr. Ronnie G. Torres-ISU.
The undertaking was facilitated by the Quality Assurance Services headed by Dr. Edna A. Pante, Quality Assurance Officer in cooperation with the accreditation task forces, Public Relations and Media Communication Services and the Management Information Systems. Meanwhile, the Opening and Closing Programs as well as the Virtual Tour were hosted by Ms. Quennie Anne S. Molod, Instructor at the CatSU Laboratory Schools.
AACCUP’S official decision are yet to be released soon together with the complete report of findings and recommendations.
With the best efforts of everyone who worked for this online accreditation, the CatSU is in high hopes to continue to rise in the academic community in terms of its academic services. As what Kim Collins said, “Strive for continuous improvement, instead of perfection.”
On March 7-9, 2022, CatSU will once again embark on another journey of AACCUP online accreditation for its 3rd survey visit phase 2 for twelve various academic programs.#GZafe
