The Catanduanes State University (CatSU) under the administration of the SUC President III, Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza has launched new centralized web portals for both its faculty and students.

According to the CatSU President, the launching of these two online portals hopes to leverage to make life easier for students, faculty, and staff of the University. โ€œWith these two online portals, students can now do a lot of online activities such as viewing their enrolled subjects and grades, as well as printing their Certificates of Enrollment (COE) on demand. On the other hand, teachers can readily access their list of subjects, officially enrolled students, and submit their grades online which can then be viewed by their respective students in the Student Portalโ€, Dr. Azanza said.

Another feature of the online student portal is the enlisting of students during enrolment. The same process of enrolment but everything is via online and short message service (SMS). Though this will be employed for the next enrolment, the web portal can already be accessed to view studentsโ€™ personal information and current academic records. They can access the student web portal through https://portal.catanduanesstateu.edu.ph. On the login page, CatSU students shall input their studentsโ€™ number as their USERNAME and his/her SURNAME in capital letters as their temporary password. After logging in, the students are required to change their passwords to protect their data.

Mr. Neil Araojo, CatSU programmer said that the CatSU web portals were conceptualized & developed by the Management Information Systems (MIS) then headed by the Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Joey Casim together with his development team, Mr. Araojo, Mr. Isaac Arcilla, and Mr. Rod Kevin Potazo. However, the deployment of the said IT project was deferred due to other priorities tasked by the management to the office.
He also mentioned that it was Dr. Azanza who encouraged the MIS team now to push through the said project because of his vision of transforming CatSU into an information technology-driven institution that would usher and improved academic learning and services especially in this new normal.

Fortunately, this IT project has been rolled out from the opening of school year 2021-2022. The MIS, now headed by Prof. Emmie Delluza, since its inception is still continuing innovations in the development. โ€œAmidst the limited resources, we were able to successfully deploy the student and faculty web portals. We focus now on the basics to jump-start the web portals for students and facultyโ€, Mr. Araojo added.

The student portal was fully functional last September 4, 2021 while the Faculty portal is still in the process of updating its database as the office is still waiting for the approved faculty teaching loads. Upon the receipt of teaching loads, the MIS will immediately upload the data so the faculty can access the portal.

For the faculty, they can log in via https://portal.catanduanesstateu.edu.ph/faculty using the first character of his/her given name plus surname all in small letters. They will also be given temporary passwords of which they can change afterwards.
These online web portals are said to be conceptualized to cater to both the students' and facultyโ€™s convenience and accessibility to their own records, anywhere and anytime. As what Mr. Araojo said, โ€œIn the future, we will transform the way we work; we learn and; we playโ€. #GZafe
