To add to the
mounting firsts in the early days of his presidency, Dr. Patrick Alain T.
Azanza, SUC President III of the Catanduanes State University (CatSU) organized
an association of retired faculty, teachers and employees from the University
dubbed as โSamahan ng mga Gurong Retirado at Kawani sa CatSUโ or SEGURADO KA SA
CatSU.
Dr. Azanza inducted
the new set of officers on August 26, 2021 at the Universityโs Conference Room.
The group elected former CatSU Professor, Mr. Armando Zafe as President. With
Zafe in the roll of officers in SEGURADO KA SA CatSU were: Prof. Salvador V.
Isorena, Vice-President for External Affairs; Dr. Aida A. Dianela,
Vice-President for Internal Affairs; Dr. Nenita T. Taraya, Vice-President for
Resource Mobilization; Dr. Maria S. Tugano, Secretary; and Dr. Nimfa Zafe, Treasurer. The association shall
organize CatSU retirees coming from the island and other parts of the world so
they could still remain in touch with the University even after their
retirement.
In the meeting, Dr.
Azanza revealed that several projects for the Universityโs retirees would be
offered, such as their own cooperative, nature park, and retirement home in which the latter is being eyed to be built
at barangay Bislig in San Andres town where an available lot could be readily
used for the project. It is reportedly now being conceptualized by a core group
in consultations with the President himself who hatched the idea earlier. On the other hand, a
similar housing project, this time for faculty and employees who are in active
service has been conceived by the President in coordination with the Dela Riva
Realty Company in Virac set earlier expressed willingness to tie-up with the
University to set up housing facilities for CatSU faculty and employees.
Around 70 slots for
both single detached and row houses units are being eyed to be built in the
Dela Riva property at San Isidro Village in Virac. The president required the
new CatSU Faculty Regent, Dr. Rosana S. Abundo to help develop availment
guidelines and screening of interested buyers. The blueprint of the housing
project was conceptualized with the help of a technical core group. The housing
package in the Dela Riva property is reportedly ranging from P450,000.00 to
P850,000.00 including lot which cost around P1500/sq m to 2200/sq m.
On the other hand,
the founding of SEGURADO KA SA CatSU is viewed as a strong partner of the
University in its push for reforms, and community development within and
outside the confines of the University under its present leadership of Dr.
Azanza. #cvecilles
