CatSU- CoEd Faculty is among 2021 Most Inspiring Teachers of the Philippines

Catanduanes State University (CatSU) faculty, Prof. Jose Z. Tria, of the College of Education (CoEd) has been chosen as one of the Most Inspiring Teachers of the Republic of the Philippines 2021 by the Saceda Youth Lead School, Inc.

A CoEd faculty and the current Department Chairperson of the Physical Education, Prof. Tria, was recognized for his outstanding and inspiring efforts and dedication in making a big difference in the lives of his family, community and thus contributing to a safer and better nation as whole. In an interview, Prof. Tria said that he didn’t honestly expect to be included as one the Most Inspiring Teachers of the Philippines. 

He further said, “I just do what a teacher must do”. According to him, “Every teacher is an inspiration to all.” Because of the Covid-19 pandemic which has brought challenges especially to the academic sector, a teacher should not forget to seek opportunities even amidst crisis. Thereby a teacher must do his best in all circumstances for the learners to reach their maximum potential and also for betterment of the society. “An inspiring teacher does not only teach effectively but also bring meaningful experiences to their learners - letting them explore that they could bring out of their best not only in class but also in life,” Prof. Tria added. 

He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Saceda Youth Lead School especially to its Founder and Chair, Mr. Dave Saceda for his nomination as well as to everyone who congratulated him for this once in a lifetime award.

The formation training and formal awarding ceremony of the annual search for the 2021 Most Inspiring Teachers of the Philippines, with the theme: “Thru our teachers we see the future of our country and thru their good deeds we prosper as a nation” will be held on July 20-22, 2021 in Dumaguete City, Philippines where SYL is based. The event aims to search for dedicated and committed teachers for a safer and better future for all and to develop them as inspiring teachers who do not only teach but also guide and navigate the learners for stronger Filipino families, safer Filipino communities and a more robust Filipino nation. 

Prof. Jose Z. Tria is currently a faculty member of the College of Education of Catanduanes State University (CatSU), and at the same time a Department Chair of the Physical Education Department. He is active in instruction, research and extension activities where he shares fully well to the mandate of the University particularly in providing high-quality instruction to students, conducting research, and actively participating in the different extension activities. 

His academic training and more than five years of college teaching experience prepared him to be an effective instructor in the teacher education department. He finished his bachelor’s degree at CatSU, graduating Cum Laude with the degree Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE) major in Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH). Moreover, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) awarded him K-12 transition faculty scholarship and was able to graduate at Bicol University with the degree Master of Arts in Music Education as outstanding researcher and outstanding master’s graduate. Presently, he is taking his Ph.D. in Educational Management at CatSU. In addition, he is also active in research, presenting studies in the national and international arena where he already published several research articles and had been cited by several authors in Google Scholar 57 times. #GZafe
